The sponsor money … by Cynic Al
Will not go to FL. it is not their ground. The ground is owned by the Council, managed by Everyone active and rented by SAFC. FL Sponsor the ground and paid a significant sum (to the Council) for the privilege of calling it the FlamingoLand Stadium. The FL sponsor money was ringfenced by the council for ground improvements and was part of the funds used to build the new stand itself, other monies were also used to fund the stand including grants and club contributions. So Gordon Gibb (FL owner) has (indirectly) helped buy the stand. I believe he could have objected to the name of another business being prominently displayed in the ground (sponsoring a stand) but it appears as though he is backing the club by allowing Stand sponsorship. Thanks Gordon. I assume, since the club announced it, that the sponsorship money will benefit the club (perhaps contributing to the monies that SAFC contributed to planning/building the new stand).
