I’d forgotten all about Dunning and Webb.
I was also surprised to see that Benno (9) had scored more than Pete Davidson (7). I’d have lost a lot of money on that bet.
Similarly Rob Ellis (7) scored more than Thommo (6)

Only name I can’t remember at all is Danny Moore. Any chance of a reminder please 365?

Not everyone can be this silly but it is nice to see so many trying.

Yes. My two main memories of him were scoring a goal direct from a corner at the gasholder end of Queensgate, and having his aforementioned curly locks shaved off for charity after a game at Parkgate. And he was indeed a replacement for Hoyle, but only as the former left for America rather than him being considered better

REDCAR TOWN v Boro video highlights online now by Old Git

Posted: 7/11/2018 at 16:25:27, 294 views.

at this link.

Very little audio as the wind was bad I’ve reduced it almost to zero
so you will have to turn your speakers up full blast.
There was what looked like a video platform behind and between the dugouts
but in that wind it would have been a hazardous occupation.
I was at ground level and nearly got blown over a number of times in the 2nd half.
That explains the regular camera shake.

Without meaning to cause debate…. by Patto_1989

Posted: 5/11/2018 at 23:34:29, 317 views. In reply to 'Ian Scobbie'

…was it not Scobbie who came up with the plans to originally sell the McCain, and then use the money generator for a new ground (similar in size and shape to FLS), and clear the clubs debts?

From my own understanding at the time, it was the council who blocked these plans to sell the ground, effectively killing the club, before waiting a number of years before lifting the covenant and selling on the land for a decent profit.

For all people might believe Scobbie was the ender of SFC, from seeing quite a bit behind the scenes at the time, he was actually a very intelligent man who worked hard to try and save the club.

Scobbie’s plan … by Cynic Al

Posted: 6/11/2018 at 07:09:18, 294 views. In reply to 'Without meaning to cause debate….'

Was to build a ground on the industrial estate between Morrisons and Seamer Tip.

From my memory, some of the major obstacles at the time was that the plan was very last minute. No plans had been drawn up, no planning applications submitted, nothing was actually on the table. It was a ‘pie in the sky’ plan. The council didn’t really have a plan to block. The other major problem with the plan was that the ‘plan’ was not envisaged to be able to clear the debts that SFC still had.

The plan to sell the McCain Stadium site was first mooted by Geoffrey Richmond. He wanted to build a new stadium on what is now the Sainsbury’s site.

In my opinion, Ian Scobbie was not the reason the club went under, he just didn’t have the time/finances to save it.

To add.. by snainton seadog User: snainton seadog

Posted: 6/11/2018 at 08:49:24, 216 views. In reply to 'Scobbie’s plan …'

The proposed stadium would have been the same specification as FLS (minus the sports village) - so 2,000 capacity and at Eastfield. Funds from the sale of the Athletic Ground would have repaid debts but not left enough for the build, and other funding wasn’t guaranteed. The council were asked to lift the covenant on a promise with no plans etc.

The financial collapse also came a few months after we went bust, which would certainly have hampered any ability to sell the land for anywhere near enough money.

In my view it was little more than a last minute smokescreen. To little, too late. I agree that Scobbie wasn’t the reason the club went under, it was already holed under the waterline. That said, it would have been tough, but in the right hands, say a supporters’ trust, I still believe it could have been rescued.

From Steve Adamsons “The Official History “. The big news of 1989 was the announcement by Geoffrey Richmond that the club was looking to sell the ground and move to a new site, possibly at Caytom Low Road, where a modern, purpose built stadium would be erected. A Hull based development company had agreed to pay £2.56 million for the McCain Stadium, for a supermarket site, and would build the club a new ground of planning permission was forthcoming.
There was much talk of a proposed sale of the McCain Stadium for a supermarket site, with Chairman Geoffrey Richmond now hoping to re-locate to Dunslow Road, close to the Eastfield Industrial Estate.
And the rest is history.

To mark the 4-week countdown of our crowdfunding campaign tomorrow, we are encouraging everyone who follows the club to give £5 on the 5th.

In addition to the initial donation given to the club of £2,000, the club has received a £1,000 donation. Combined with the current JustGiving total, this means we are just a few hundred pounds short of reaching £10,000 and a third of our overall target!

If we can receive 200 £5 donations then that will add a minimum of £1,000 to the pot and take us well over the £10k. We really appreciate everyones contribution to the campaign so far and hope that you will all support this push tomorrow. Thank you.

2pts a game , new league? I think your underestimating the league we in.. for sure I think we can improve the squad but then players their possibly on more money, closer to home and getting a game week in week out. I see the recent signings as possibly not the greatest and think there was better players around that made us stronger in the first 11 not the bench. But let’s judge the guy in results so far his done great and I see no reason to complain.

132 points from the 60 league games played since the opening day of last season at our new ground. 2.2 points per game. 141 scored, 61 conceded. +79 goal difference. 2nd last season in a lower league, currently five points clear in a higher league.

Well, we were the architects of or own downfall today, I thought. Much too defensive, with large swathes of the game being played in our half. With Dean and Valentine injured and Cadman kept on the bench (??) creativity in midfield was sadly absent and service to the forwards was poor. We resorted to the long ball too often,in a strong wind and against very adept defenders. I like the lad Merris, but when he is not having his back covered by Coulson, Gooda, Johnson et al, his defensive frailties are highlighted and he is regularly getting skinned. I accept he is tenacious, battles for the ball well and does have other qualities, but runners passing him by with relative ease can cause us problems. On a positive note,, we dealt well with forced changes, with Johnson, especially fitting in vey nicely at the back.
Need to put this blip behind us and move on to the next league game and get back to winning ways.

Sorry, made the ‘injury’ assumption under the premise of ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.’ I thought, if eligible, same as for Cadman, that they would start / play some part in the game, as they have been an integral part of a successful formula to date.

Tommy your right about if it isn’t broke. Pity management don’t see it that way.!playing ( 7 ) at the back isn,t working ,need a creative midfield.

So first and second placed teams both lose and 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th all win.

The chasing pack are closing in. At least Nantwich got beat. Just a shame Ferriby couldn’t hang on to that lead they had at Basford
