Boro. U 19. by Stepney Seadog 1

Posted: 12/3/2019 at 11:53:50, 142 views.

Having watched our U 19 side play all their home matches, I would like to say how much enjoyment they have given the fans who turn up on a Monday night.
The high standard of football is due to their fitness and ability, under the management team of Blotty and Ingram. Every game has seen them improve, and
I believe they may be the nucleus of future Boro teams. I do not know if SK has seen them play, but he maybe could learn a thing about the way they approach
the game over 90 mins.

In praise of Tom Morgan….. by mrs trellis User: mrs trellis

Posted: 10/3/2019 at 15:50:39, 220 views.

Next time you go to a match, before you go in the bar take a few minutes to watch the thorough warm up that Tom Morgan gives Tom Taylor.

TM’s commitment and enthusiasm week in week out are exceptional, and the constant encouragement and guidance he gives to TT must be a massive lift.

TT is rightly getting a lot of credit for the amazing double save early in yesterday’s game.

Can’t help but wonder how much the equally amazing finger tip save diving full length to his left as TM put him through his paces twenty minutes earlier contributed to those critical saves.

Not everyone can be this silly but it is nice to see so many trying.

They have a ladies team and lots of junior teams as well as a connection with Allerton Grange High School - all that can’t be dependent on attendances.

at Queensgate, that they were recently owned by a group
of local businessmen who took over the club as a
personal toy and at the time weren’t bothered
about low crowds as their money could cover the club’s costs.
I assume the same people own the club now.
I can’t recall if this was an item in the Boro prog or the SEN.

What Cadman has done wrong, was a central figure last year and this year seems to be a bit part player. Cadman still one of the most creative players and above the likes of forrester and valo (although different type of player). Not sure how Johnson keeps getting a game..

Cadman and Gooda have probably done very little wrong except fallen out with the man who picks the team. Bigger and better players go out of favour at clubs in every league all over the world. There is only two things they can do - either suck it up or leave. I really hope it’s the former and definitely not the latter. It is the only time I’ve heard the manager out an individual player for being ‘poor’ however, whilst forever name dropping and commenting on how good other team’s players are. Not particularly good for morale.
As for the game, I thought generally we did well. Taylor made some fine stops and we made several promising chances. Last ten minutes was squeaky bum time, but importantly we held on to get an important 3 points

Jack Johnson…… by mrs trellis User: mrs trellis

Posted: 10/3/2019 at 15:41:08, 175 views. In reply to 'Struggle to understand '

Particularly in the first half yesterday Jack was a real threat down the right hand side.

Useful overlaps, decent balls from the byline and well weighted through balls.
For me he is in the side on merit, and while he might not put in the crunching tackles that are Josh Lacey’s specialty, Jack offers a lot more threat and refinement going forward.

Comments about his father’s occupation and business connections are nothing more than tawdry rumour mongering.

the facts are as follows

Jack Johnson is a better RB then Josh Lacey Overall.

A modern day defender does not just kick the player in the air and hoof it. JJ can get up and down the wing the whole game and has confidence in attacking positions. More so than JL.

I’m sure the players would like it to be at somewhere like The Riverside but wouldn’t it be nice to hold it at the FLS.

Especially if Middlesbro get through to the final again - then we could justify it on the grounds that they played last season’s final at home so we should be at home this season!

I’m sure we would get a much bigger crowd than last year’s final (which only attracted just over 1,000). And it would make for a much better atmosphere than 1,000 people rattling around in a 34,000 seater stadium.

Tonight’s attendance of 1608 is the biggest for a North Riding Senior Cup tie with the exception of finals.

Thought it was a well fought out match by two equal sides. Not a lot of chances in the game but both sides had a couple of good chances to snatch the win. York were a decent footballing side and about halfway through the 2nd half I was expecting them to come on strong with their fitness but Boro dug in & finished well. 0-0 a fair result. I could not believe the difference in our penalties and theirs. They were hopeless, the first down the middle for Tommy to save with his legs & their next two ballooned over the bar. Our 3 were all perfect and placed well into the bottom corner and unstoppable - Wally, Wayne & Killer. Only real down side was the injury to Coulo who had to limp off. Just hope he hasn’t broken anything or that is the end of his season. Vallo looked to be in pain in last few minutes but as we had used all our subs he had to stay on, so again hope he is ok as he worked hard throughout the match & got stuck in. Wayne Brooksby had a decent game as well and looking more like his old self. Nice to see Cadders and Bailey get a run out - the team badly needs them back to match fitness as soon as. All in all a good game watched by an enthusiastic & great crowd for what some people call a tin pot trophy. But we are in the final again & look forward to another trip to Middlesboro. Well done to all.

Away from the predictable fallout from most fans following Saturday’s result, can I just say that I thought we played some good football in the first half. Brooksby was used well out on the right wing, and we were getting some decent balls into feet in and around the box. Lofts also did well out on the left. Our goal was a great effort from Wally, but it was built on some great build up play beforehand.

In my opinion we shot ourselves in the foot in the 2nd half by being too defensive. Time wasting with 20+ minutes left to play was just foolish, plus I think we switched to 5 at the back at some point instead of going looking for the 2nd goal.

I thought SK said that he was annoyed that they went too deep & wanted them to push up more which they presumably failed to do.

I have just been reading the rants and raves on Facebook regarding who gets paid what. I have been a joint owner since day one have attended every AGM and Fans Forum and study the annual accounts each year. In spite of this I don’t have a clue who earns what at the club yet all these financial geniuses on Facebook appear to have this information. I would be obliged, therefore, if they could substantiate their claims and where they get the figures from because as a joint owner I should surely also be entitled to this information!
