Pen? by Cynic

Having watched the video that pen decision is shocking - is there no common sense? I know we might have sometimes had the rub of the green re pens this season but at least there was something to be debated.

Just thought I’d copy this to here by Old Git

To mark the 4-week countdown of our crowdfunding campaign tomorrow, we are encouraging everyone who follows the club to give £5 on the 5th.

In addition to the initial donation given to the club of £2,000, the club has received a £1,000 donation. Combined with the current JustGiving total, this means we are just a few hundred pounds short of reaching £10,000 and a third of our overall target!

If we can receive 200 £5 donations then that will add a minimum of £1,000 to the pot and take us well over the £10k. We really appreciate everyones contribution to the campaign so far and hope that you will all support this push tomorrow. Thank you.

Up the Boro!

After lasts 4 games where do you think the teams going to finish in the league. Because to me kitty asnt a clue.to blame 2 players for one of farsleys goals and say it’s down to keeper an
d unnamed player is laughable.. A few more results like this and it will be bye bye.please dont defend him by saying it’s down to injuries, the worse the team performs the more injuries will appear.time to face reality we have had A great season up to now .But it’s downhill now.

2pts a game , new league? I think your underestimating the league we in.. for sure I think we can improve the squad but then players their possibly on more money, closer to home and getting a game week in week out. I see the recent signings as possibly not the greatest and think there was better players around that made us stronger in the first 11 not the bench. But let’s judge the guy in results so far his done great and I see no reason to complain.

Nobody, but NOBODY, can be this delusional.

“Because to me kitty asnt a clue"

132 points from the 60 league games played since the opening day of last season at our new ground. 2.2 points per game. 141 scored, 61 conceded. +79 goal difference. 2nd last season in a lower league, currently five points clear in a higher league.

There are no words to describe your opinion that are polite enough to post on a public messageboard. You’re entitled to your opinion, but it’s misplaced to the extreme.

Apart from the loss of Max & Tom White - Yes, we are stronger

Don’t forget to factor in around 6 or 7 on the injured list recently. Have patience, SK is doing what he can when he can.

All teams are going to have poor results from time to time. Farsley are a top side and would you be happier if we were higher up the league……………? ;)

Today by Tommy Wooton

Posted: 3/11/2018 at 18:34:38, 392 views.

Well, we were the architects of or own downfall today, I thought. Much too defensive, with large swathes of the game being played in our half. With Dean and Valentine injured and Cadman kept on the bench (??) creativity in midfield was sadly absent and service to the forwards was poor. We resorted to the long ball too often,in a strong wind and against very adept defenders. I like the lad Merris, but when he is not having his back covered by Coulson, Gooda, Johnson et al, his defensive frailties are highlighted and he is regularly getting skinned. I accept he is tenacious, battles for the ball well and does have other qualities, but runners passing him by with relative ease can cause us problems. On a positive note,, we dealt well with forced changes, with Johnson, especially fitting in vey nicely at the back.
Need to put this blip behind us and move on to the next league game and get back to winning ways.

Sorry, made the ‘injury’ assumption under the premise of ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.’ I thought, if eligible, same as for Cadman, that they would start / play some part in the game, as they have been an integral part of a successful formula to date.

Tommy your right about if it isn’t broke. Pity management don’t see it that way.!playing ( 7 ) at the back isn,t working ,need a creative midfield.

So first and second placed teams both lose and 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th all win.

The chasing pack are closing in. At least Nantwich got beat. Just a shame Ferriby couldn’t hang on to that lead they had at Basford

Loving being a Boro fan at the moment but… by Midlandseadog (in Cov)

Posted: 1/11/2018 at 22:14:11, 327 views.

worried about cover for Wally and Coulo if they get an injury resulting in a longish absence from the team.
No doubt SK has a plan B but can’t see anyone filling in for them from the current squad.

Any opinions?

Thing is that these are 2 exceptional players & we would never get a similar standard player to sit on the bench just in case. We do have some utility players that could fit in if the worst happened until SK sourced a replacement but hey we can just keep on the bright side and think positive. There are bound to be some hiccups along the way in any position and we must simply deal with them if they happen. We had 7 previous 1st teamers out against a decent Whitby side on Tuesday & came through it so try not to worry.

Games in hand over us by dogtanian User: dogtanian

After tonight’s league game, Warrington can only catch us by winning all 4 games in hand. All the other teams can’t catch us by winning their games in hand. If Warrington don’t win all 4 then all we have to do is match everyone for the rest of the season. No pressure there then ;)

Quick report by Cynic

Much better game than league game. Whitby probably shaded it on chances (Tommy Taylor was man of match I presume?) but we missed a fair few also.

Really good game with both sides having ample chances. Tommy was excellent both in the normal game and then saving the first Whitby penalty to get us on the front foot from where we never faltered. Altogether now: There’s only onnnnnneee …..

Questions from a non-attendee:

How was JJ at centre back?

How did the two new lads fare? I liked the look of Lofts at Gainsborough.

Did Scott have a good game in midfield?

Did Luke Dean look back to full fitness?

And finally, was the police helicopter of use in keeping two sets of warring fans apart? Sounds like excellent use of thousands and thousands of pounds of taxpayers’ money…

How was JJ at centre back? He was surprisingly comfortable. He won most header and challenges against fat boy beadle. Still prefer him at RB but Lacey has been playing well so fair play.

How did the two new lads fare? I liked the look of Lofts at Gainsborough - Forester is a squad player, Lofts not as good as Wayne but not far away. worked hard.

Did Scott have a good game in midfield? Not really, sold passes short and we were notably absent in midfield but i’m sure that its more due to the opposing formations and shape rather than skill.

Did Luke Dean look back to full fitness? No but he came on so hopefully it helped.

And finally, was the police helicopter of use in keeping two sets of warring fans apart? Sounds like excellent use of thousands and thousands of pounds of taxpayers’ money. Probably an over reactions. The helicopter use is factored in to the budget so maybe we should give the police less money because they are clearly not using it properly.

Helicopter by seadog

Like many fans at the game I thought the helicopter had something to do with the game but in fact it turned out to be searching for a missing person (who was found) and had nothing to do with Boro.

In answer to your questions and of course only one mans opinion.

Fish out of water - completely dominated by Jimmy. I remember he did win one header.
Not too bad although they probably need more time to settle in to the team, however Lofts really came into it in the 2nd half and looked very threatening and useful - unlucky not to score.
Very ordinary unfortunately. I think we need more dominance & control in midfield if we are to progress. Somebody like Whitby’s number 8 who always knew where his team mates were & a class player.
Luke Dean did ok when he came on but not enough time to do much. I guess it was a start to getting him back to full fitness.
Didn’t see any trouble whatsoever & did think the mass police presence was a bit overboard especially that the previous troublemakers were banned. The segregation method was much better with a decent ‘no-mans land’ keeping any potential problems well apart. Although the Whitby fans basically supported their team well and I saw no animosity from either set of fans in the ground, I was slightly concerned by what I heard from a small group of Whitby fans (cans in hand) as I walked out of the car park near to where they were going to go in just before the game.

The game itself was very even & closely fought with both teams having decent chances - a good game for the most part. I felt Whitby passed the ball very well and looked a decent side from back to front. Their number 9 looked sharp and you can see how he gets a lot of goals but he did have trouble keeping his feet last night which was good for us. To be fair it was cruel for either side to lose but we completely dominated the penalties. To say we had 6 or 7 players missing (Killock, Valentine, Cadman, Annan, Brooksby), or part fit on the bench (Burgess & Deans) we have to say that was a great result. I must also give credit to Josh Lacey for our goal. He took a pass from Tommy & blasted the full length of the pitch going past everybody & got a fantastic cross in from the byeline which led to our goal. I am really impressed with him & think he is the greatest strengthening of all our positions from last year.

Good to get a few measured and reasonable opinions after a game for once - seems like these days the only time people want to talk about what happens on the pitch is when we lose. Thanks guys.
