drinking too much and other probs will be glad to know that
that handrails have been installed in the main stand.
See photo on main site link in case you’ve never seen a handrail
or wait for the sweet surprise at the next home game.
Should be handy for tethering donkeys to if they need to shelter from the rain & snow
and have a coffee in the bar.

Just bored today so by Seamer unregistered

Posted: 30/8/2018 at 15:08:16, 324 views.

With all the talk about our start to the season I would see how after 4 games how many point’s we had per 4 game’s. So here goes.

Seasons 1970-71 to 1986-87.
17 seasons. 68 games.
Lost 21 games 31%.
Drew 19 games 28%.
Won 28 games 41%.

" 6.05 point’s per 4 games.

Seasons 1998-99 to 2006-07.

9 seasons. 36 games.
Lost 12 games 33%.
Drew 16 games 45%.
Won 8 games 22%.

" 4.04 point’s per 4 games.

An Ave of 5.04 point’s per 4 games.

Scarborough have an Ave this season 5 point’s per 4 game’s this season (so far) and up with seasons past in starts to the season. Previous season chosen at random.

Funny how things worked out. Following on.

Wins 36 : 34-6%
Lost 33 : 31-7%
Drew 35 : 33-6%.

After all those games it couldn’t be much closer. We will see how the season works out in time.

SGM - Election Policy by Dewsbury User: Dewsbury

Posted: 29/8/2018 at 16:12:11, 204 views.

OK, looks like the papers have been sent out for the SGM. A couple of thoughts from me on the proposed changes to the Election Policy:

1) The amendment to Section 5.0 Nominations & Eligibilty, includes the text that I put forward to the AGM last year, namely to ensure that board candidates have been a society member for 12 months before standing. I’m a little concerned that proper procedure wasn’t followed at the AGM, as it was reported to me that my motion to amend 5.1 had been passed at the AGM, yet it is now being put to another General Meeting. Odd, but ultimately of little concern if (!) the change goes through.

2) I also note that the line under 5.10 “who has been a member of the Board for 12 consecutive years" is being struck out. This is a very important amendment, and I am very disappointed that the board have not put any supporting documentation out to justify this amendment. This line was included specifically to prevent people from staying on the board for too long. Without this, board members can hang on in perpetuity. This can lead to all sorts of problems. There were very good reasons for having the line in originally; I respectfully argue that it should not be removed, and that those suggesting it should be struck out should explain why.

As it stands, the vote presented is only to wholly accept the changes to the Election Policy document (i.e. both changes I’ve outlined above), or reject them both. Sadly I will be unable to attend the EGM in person, so will have to vote by proxy to reject the proposed change. And therefore - bizarrely - I will be voting against the amendment to the Election Policy document that I put to the AGM last year (and which should already have been passed…!?)

SGM 12 year rule by Graham North

Posted: 29/8/2018 at 17:01:41, 197 views. In reply to 'SGM - Election Policy'

This was discussed at the July meeting. With rules around re-election every 3 years and other rules it was felt that there were other ways in which people could be removed from the Board. Also where we have good Board members who are active do we really want to lose them at 12 years.

I am not going to respond to all comments on Surfing Seadog. I just wanted to clarify this point.

As I say I will not go into long dialogue on here, especially as the papers and comments are for members of the Society.

Perspective on this year by Burniston User: Burniston

Posted: 29/8/2018 at 12:49:50, 276 views.

OK it’s only been the odd person but I think to start panicking now is way out of perspective as we start this new adventure in the highest division we have ever been in since our formation. I honestly think back to back promotions are a bit of a pipe dream & we need to calm down a bit if we are not at the top of the division. Of course that is what we are aiming for and anything less would be defeatist but it is not the end of the world if we don’t go up in our first attempt - we have never done it before. On average we have gained a promotion about every 4 years which to me is solid growth and development. I am greatly enjoying the journey & don’t want it to be over too quickly (each league we go up will be that much harder and nothing worth winning comes easy). I reckon this league is so competitive from top to bottom with similar standards that most teams will all take points off each other. In the games we have had this year we have been generally more than capable & probably the better side (imo) in the ones I have seen. The only difference in the score has been which team takes its chances. I would say we have had double the chances that our opponents have had so at least that is hopeful. To some degree lady luck has a say especially in those deflections, the bounce of the ball, ref’s decisions etc. and so many teams will win some and lose some based on the laws of averages. Keep optimistic and enjoy the ride.

Matlock didn’t equalise in the 90th minute.
Grantham didn’t score with 8 minutes to go.

We’d have 8 points now, and would be 2nd in the table.

Fine margins at this level, and we are learning all the time. I’d hope SK has learnt enough from the Matlock game to see a game out, and enough from the Grantham game to know when a point is enough, and to shut up shop.

We’re not far off at all.

We are in a new league with many new players who have either not played with each other before or have played with each other many seasons ago. Give it time. All it takes is a good run take a look at teams like Fulham in the championship always started badly but went on good runs and were knocking on the automatic promotion door.
We are in it together, win, lose or draw.

Away from home in our own league is the toughest type of draw on paper - at least it wasn’t one of the real bighitters such as a South Shields, Gainsborough or Hyde etc. Saying that, with our current form/confidence, getting them back to our place for a replay wouldn’t be the worst result ever.

But genuine question….why no changes (apart from the one forced through injury).
Baffled me tbh. Not only do you try and win the game but what message does that send out to the lads on the bench ?
Could be a long old season.
Here’s a thought for you guys… We bring in “better" players because we’re playing at a better level … Then why not bring in a better manager ?

Momentum I’m guessing. He didn’t want to change it because we were kind of dominating them and creating chances at the end. I guess if you bring on a new player, it might change the game and the momentum..
New division and we have a few new players. It will take time to gel and for players to understand each other. Last year, we were lucky in the sense of as the standard was lower it was easier to win games and gel, but the standard is better so it will take some time to gel and everybody to know how each other plays. You could see there were some miss placed passes and exchanges from players as they wanted different things. Look at Salford in the conference - they are practically a new team and have only started picking up decent points.
Remember he got us promoted last year so give him a chance! What manager is out there to get that’s better than Kittrick then?

Im not gonna shoot! by Dunno

Posted: 28/8/2018 at 17:28:30, 236 views. In reply to 'Changes'

Id have no problem with the manager leaving if at Christmas we haven’t won another match, we were generally dire and the whole team had turned against him. But I’m not sure why we need to change him now.

We finished 2nd last year, 3rd the year before and the year before that there was a marked improvement when he came in when the other two left. People were saying the same thing when we lost to Ossett Town in the play-offs, then the season after we finished 2nd and were promoted. You would have to question the Boards sanity if they sacked him at the end of last year. If Pep Guardiola was our manager last year, the only difference he could have made is one position.

We are a fan owned club who should all be pulling in the same direction for the common good, if there is a need for change then it will become obvious and the dissenting voices grow louder. But surely not now, after finishing 3rd, then 2nd and being 11th after four games. We haven’t been embarrassed in any of those matches. If Walshaw had taken any of his many chances like last year so far we’d have at least another two points (Matlock), then we would be played 4, and probably in 3rd two points behind 1st.

I would say give him a chance to fix it, but I don’t think its broken. I trust the Board 100% to make the right decision when it is needed.

Out on a limb by Fendog

Posted: 29/8/2018 at 11:37:53, 238 views. In reply to 'RE: Changes'

I know I’m out on a limb. But I’ve been saying he is a poor manager since he arrived. If we didn’t have coulo would we have got promoted ? If we didn’t have Max would we have got promoted ? If we didn’t have wally would we have got promoted ? All 3 were either given to Kitrick or bought. Kitrick strikers Sinclair, Logan and the one that came towards the end who’s name escapes me.
Then there’s Cadman… For the record I think he is a fantastic footballer but could hardly get a game last season then this, in a higher league he’s a first 11 player ?
I have consistently criticised his man management skills. Like hanging Tommy out to dry last week ! That’s right build a goal Keepers confidence .
And going back to my original point why no changes against Whitby ?
I get the momentum thing …anyone else ? Or just just going to say what a great manager because we got promoted 😂

You make some very good points. I have been disappointed with some of SK’s decisions. Some of his signings have been poor at best. Some of his decisions questionable. Bringing Annan on Saturday for one. I assume that it was his decision as it is hard to tell with him being perched high in the stand.
But he got us up last season and for that alone we must stay with him. It is way to early for us to be talking about replacing him. We are off to a very average start there is no doubt about that. I certainly do not think, with the exception of Burgess that the players brought in are an improvement on last season. Time will tell. SK will live or die by his decisions. Something tells me that he will get it right.

I too am not a big fan of the manager, but he was the one in charge when we got promotion, so I’ll give him due credit for that. Also, we have to be careful to not talk ourselves into some sort of a ‘crisis’ - it’s only the start of the season., and it isn’ t as if we’ve been miles behind in any game so far. I also think we have a great squad of players, who have a fantastic sense of togetherness. I’m sure deserved success will come soon. As for Cadman, are you suggesting he shouldn’t be in the starting eleven because we are in a higher league? I agree that he is a fantastic player, who played for League and Conference North sides before us, so he should be more than comfortable in this league. The fact that he didn’t play all of every game last season was little to do with capability, but was down to the manager’s personal choice. - one that I disagreed with, but In every club in the world there are players who are in more in favour at particular times than others for a variety of reasons; not necessarily to do with fairnesss, form or fitness - it’s just how it is. Let’s give Cadman massive credit for being willing to sit on the sidelines for so long waiting for his turn and to SK (albeit grudgingly) for giving him a chance and for finally realising, as we do, that he is a great player

Clearly trolling…. someone has too much time on their hands. Whoever it is should be more concerned with getting a job and a life rather than just trying to piss people off.

Huffed and puffed but the team lacked pace and had absolutely no ideas how to attack.for a local derby it was dross

It was just one of those games where both teams cancel eachother out. Lots happened though. Just because we didn’t win doesn’t mean it was “dross”

Oh dear. The local residents won’t be happy.

YCR were saying Whitby fans threw a flare onto the pitch too. Hope it didn’t do any damage to the pitch like the one at the Hyde F.A. Cup match did last season.

The flare landed behind the goal line so didn’t damage the actual pitch. I tried to have a closer look but couldn’t get too close as the “segregation" was still in place even when the fans weren’t. Didn’t notice too much “green street" outside the ground myself, and I left shortly before cynic posted his message.

Game today by Seadog93

Posted: 27/8/2018 at 19:13:08, 239 views. In reply to 'RE: tight as'

Whitby were a good side take nothing away from them, there number 5 won everything in front of him, number 8 who played at Blyth last season was making things tick and there number 10 and 9 linked up well.
Still think we are short on attacking options and it’s going to be hard bringing someone in willing to sit on the bench for the majority of the season, however I thought we lost our tempo when Dixon went off with a hamstring injury.
Don’t think we’ve improved much or at all in our full backs, I’m sure Killock is a centre half.
Cadman played well and I think deserved MOM in my opinion always making runs and interceptions

Genuinely feel if and when we can get Johnson back, he can play right back, Merris or Lacey left back, and then any two of Burgess, Gooda and Killock as CBs. That might improve our shape

Agree, Killock looked like what he is, a centre back playing at full back. A lot of play went through him going forward, and he had acres of space, did well defensively, but often lacked ideas when in possession. Lacey improved as the game went on.

Thought, in general, that we were okay today, improved as the game went on. Deserved to win it in the end.

Like to see young Jowett brought on for a spell ,reckon he could be a spearhead up front , so bring on the Javelin ,some of the older fans will remember that the Jowett Javelin was an executive car made 40’s/50’s in Bradford ,including myself of course anyway , bring on the Javelin sometime

re.promotion by Stepney Seadog1

Watched the Pickering v Colne game at the Boro. ground. My first thoughts were what a difference
in the class of football we are watching now to the level from which we gained promotion. Colne had
a useful side last year, and were too sharp for Pickering on the day. Pickering fielded a number of
ex-Boro players and were level at halftime, but they were to rue the number of missed chances, and
subsequently lost 4-0. Watching this game made me realise that any grandiose assumptions we may
have of promotion (mine included) must be tempered with the realisation that there will be no easy
games this season, and just enjoy the standard of football, without being too critical.
