… Has it run its course?

Is there a need to have a Supporters Club for a fan-run club? Or should there be a Fundraising Committee arm of the official club?

Waddecar has pulled one goal ahead of Wally after today’s games (he scored two against Matlock).

Wally would actually be a goal ahead of Waddecar if it were not for the demise of North Ferriby, because he scored twice against Ferriby whereas Waddecar drew a blank in Bamber Bridge’s only game against them.

Sounds from the commentary that we were very much in the game throughout and it was only the last gasp second goal which killed the game. We should have had a penalty. (Sounds familiar)

Let’s hope we can get a 4-figure crowd on Saturday to welcome Deacey for his first home game.

Any lingering play-off hopes went out of the window after today’s results.

Hopefully with the pressure off the players now they can turn on the style for the next home game and also upset Shields at their place.

Marske lost 4-0 at play-off chasing Ossett United in the East division so at least they didn’t fare any better. Three games now to get primed and in form for the cup final.

The Ossett clubs merger seems to have been a big success. Healthy crowds (averaging 465), a play-off spot and they won their County Cup Final the other night against Guiseley.

Not a bad first season for them. It’s possible we could be locking horns with them in the league again next season.

Dont agree with Geoff above. You would struggle to tell which team was pushing for the title and which was sinking away from the playoffs for most of the game.

It was by no means a classic but we held our own for the vast majority of the game.

What game were you watching? First half we played some good stuff and created chances and conceded a goal that in my opinion was against the run of play after 3 or 4 Boro corners in a row, second half Warrington did grow into the game more and it became more even, but again after abit of Boro pressure they broke away and scored again, don’t think we did badly against one of the best sides in the league, still a few players away from being a top side but the last two performances have been positive and a massive improvement

Boro did well against a very well drilled Warrington side. Their organisation won them the game. Boro played well in the first half and pressed Warrington for most of it. Hit on the break for the first goal. Warrington’s 9, scorer of their first goal was excellent. Their 6 and 11 were very good players as was their keeper who made an excellent save first half from Killers header and second half from McNaugtons shot. Yes it was a battle second half but Boro played better than at Bamber and shows the fine margins in this league. Organisation is a huge part of success at this level and we have lacked that and have done the past two seasons. As for Geoff’s reports, he’s a prick plain and simple. Clueless, fuck off and do something else on a Saturday.

Morons who can’t go this weekend are at liberty to hit people with chairs at their alternate location.

Morons who are going will have to be patient and wait till next week.

Pikes v Spalding video by Old Git

Not seen Spalding United since the Boro’s old Midland League days of the mid-60s
so I took myself over to Pickering on Saturday to see if the Pikes were any closer escaping relegation.
Not many goals and even less when I found out that I hadn’t got Spalding’s goal.
Anyways here’s a bit of the action and as usual Blotty had a big say in the result.

Couldn’t walk too well until the start of Cricket season
so got to all those post-Christmas games & plenty of goals about.
Just checked the league table and Spalding finished half way
so they weren’t the worst team.
They saved that for the next season when they finished bottom.

It was an even game by Old Git

Posted: 8/4/2019 at 12:50:44, 284 views. In reply to 'RE: Pikes v Spalding video'

but in the closing 15 mins Pikes were really on the attack,
which pretty much reflects their home form this season, leaving it late to catch up.
Might have been different if Blotty had stuck away the early penalty.
When teams are down at the bottom all the games are pretty much
the same and you understand why they are down there.
Silly defensive errors, giving the ball away under no pressure
and the ability to miss the easiest of chances.
The better teams overall take their chances & don’t make mistakes every game.
Watching Ian’s highlights from Pikes this season, even in just 12 mins
a game, you can see what the problems have been.

Unfortunately the commentary comes from a tablet that works on 4G/3G. At some grounds it can be connected to WiFi but very few.
Mobile data is what it is unfortunately and that’s the kit that gets provided by YCR - be nice if they invested in some upgrades given how well the Extra channels now do.

different line up from previous game, thought we were lucky not to go in at half time 3-1 down , we played some decent football and kept it on the floor midfield and forwards linked up well, deacey as got some work on to sort the defence ,at times they were woeful, at least (lazy) wally scored two cracking goals and takes him higher in top scorer table. hope I get another 8/10.

Yes, Tommy kept us in the game in the first half with two excellent saves (and he came fairly close to saving the penalty in the second half too, dived the right way but just could quite get it). Another very good display from him.

Wally’s goals (his 26th & 27th of the season) were both top draw. The first a powerful header into the top corner and the second a thunderous strike with his left foot that gave the keeper no chance. If I’m not mistaken, his next goal will be his 50th competitive goal for Boro. I think he’s only made about 75-80 appearances for us so that’s a superb goals to appearances rate.

Overall an entertaining game and a very good result because Bamber Bridge are a better side than their league position would suggest (surely too good to be relegated?). Having their manager poached by FCUM mid-season seems to have knocked them and put them on a downward spiral. But they created plenty of chances in the first half and opened up our defence almost with ease. Maybe our defence simply lack the cohesion and confidence that comes with having the same line-up week after week - because that part of the team has been a like revolving door in terms of selection.

No question that we remain vulnerable defensively, but many positives today:

Reasonable return performance from Johnson
Much improved performance from Brooksby
Hardly any aimless high balls
Great counterattacking play
4 good goals
3 points from an away game

I thought you told us that JJ only got in the team because of some unspecified connection between his dad and SK?

What’s your explanation for Deacey starting him yesterday? Got any more random shite to spout?

Dewsbury, I think your post should be directed at Geoff Hooley, who was actually the person casting any aspersions . As for me, I’m not bothered who they belong to, or how much they earn, as long as they do a good job and players are treated with some element of fairness

It was entirely directed at him, which is why I replied to his post and not yours.

hey big gob I said it could be a factor of him be-ing in the team , lets see if he features regular in the team ,after yesterdays shambles in defence , and as for deacey starting him ,he,s got to see if he,s as bad as the other backs.

From the tone of some replies I think you’ve been downgraded to a 7 out of ten Geoff. Shows promise but more effort needed.

Hah, the irony of Geoff calling anybody else “big gob”. Pot calling the kettle black and all that…!

Since they lost a man we’re losing 2-1 against a 10 man team who are currently sitting in a relegation place
