Reminder: SAFC Society Ltd AGM on Friday night by club.comms User: club.comms

Joint Owners of Scarborough Athletic Society Limited will meet on Friday night for the 2017 Annual General Meeting at the Flamingo Land Stadium.

The doors will open for co-owners ONLY at 7pm, with the AGM starting promptly in the clubhouse at 7:30pm. Due to the tight timescale, and the need to register current members prior to the start of the AGM, we will not be able to process new membership applications on the night.

The AGM will include:

- the review and approval of the financial statements
- the appointment of Directors (3 current Directors are resigning and 8 potential new Directors are standing for election)
- one motion that has been put forward for discussion and to be put to the vote
- the approval of the last AGM minutes and a report of the last year from our Chairman.

Following the AGM, and after a short break, there will be a CO-OWNERS ONLY Fans Forum with Boro manager Steve Kittrick ahead of the FA Cup game against Hyde United on Saturday.

The way I understood it, there was no need for an election, despite 8 people standing this year: Andrew (Fred) Firman, Andy Crossland, Andy Troughton, Jamie Daniel, Mick Davison, Nick Finch, Paul Exley and Trevor Bull. However, Steve Smith, Sandra Troughton and James Coates were standing down, which meant that if all 8 candidates were affirmed at the AGM, the board would be those eight and Geoff Osgothorpe which would still be less than the maximum of ten. You should have been sent personal statements from the candiates by email on 18th September.

Probably the way the email was worded made it look like there would be a need for an election, because 8 candidates does sound a lot, but it’s just that so many over recent times have left the board for different reasons anyway. 3 of the candidates are the ones who were ‘co-opted’ onto the board in March, 2 are longer-term directors who are up for re-election and the other 3 are ‘fresh blood’
